More About
Michelledana has been practicing yoga for the last three decades but before first becoming an RYT 200 in 2013, she studied many genres of dance and began to perform and teach at a very young age.

In 1999, Michelledana received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Language and Culture from Purchase College and, then in 2008, she went on to receive a Master of Science degree in Creative Arts Therapy; specializing in Dance/Movement Therapy from Pratt Institute.

Michelledana has been dancing, performing, and choreographing movement for over 30 years. Dance training began when Michelledana was six years old, with Jazz and Ballet, and by High School she expanded her dance studies to include Modern and West African Dance.

Michelledana has since extensively studied and performed a variety of other dance styles, including Tap, Israeli Folk, and Latin and Ballroom Dance from dance studios in NYC, Israel, and across the Hudson Valley. Michelledana is a member of Sankofa Drum and Dance Ensemble with whom she thoroughly enjoys performing for audiences all throughout the Tri-State Area.

From her upbringing in the lower the Hudson Valley of New York, combined with having lived in Brooklyn and in Tel Aviv, Michelledana has had the good fortune of encountering new lands, languages, and new cultures where she’s gained new perspectives and insights, which have not only inspired her teaching, but have also deeply inspired her flair for her other passions, such as cooking, visual art, and fashion.

Educational and performance experiences in dance, art, theatre, and music, over the last four decades, have helped to vividly shape Michelledana's teaching style.

Michelledana has worked with hundreds of people, both young and old, in community centers, schools, camps, hospitals, and nursing homes, providing artistic activities and producing shows for holidays and special events.

In addition to living in the Middle East, wondrous travels to Europe and Asia have positively helped to peak Michelledana's many interests and curiosities. There’s her fluency in Hebrew, being a percussionist, and her working as a personal chef; cooking for families, feeding crews on film shoots, and providing the catering for yoga retreats and special events, which all make Michelledana quite the multipotentialite!

Michelledana is also a very serious nature addict; she’s quite the avid forest bather and long distance swimmer.

Teaching nourishes Michelledana’s love for connection. Deepening connections with the self, and with others, along with a shared increased awareness of the positive power that mindfulness, yoga, dance, art, music, and wellness behold, are what motivate Michelledana to pursue all the things that help to uplift the spirit and inspire love, strength, and healing.

In addition to dance, Michelledana offers a variety of yoga and and movement styles: •Hatha Raja •Pranayama/Breath Coaching •Vinyasa  •Yin + Restorative  •Prenatal  •Kids and Family •HIIT •Sculpt
