More About
Hannah Fox, M.A., RYT 500, is a native to the Hudson Valley and took her first yoga class in 3rd grade when a teacher came in every week to teach her class. She began her formal studies in yoga in 1991 at the University of Oregon and started teaching in 1998 on the West coast. Her training embraces the Krishnamacharya lineage combining Vinyasa, Ashtanga and Iyengar styles, with careful attention paid to alignment. Since then she has studied extensively with Seane Corn, Shiva Rea, Rodney Yee, Patricia Walden, Ana Forrest, Todd Norian, and David Swenson, and has been continuing her yoga education at Kripalu in Lenox, Massachusetts, where she is now becoming certified as a Positional Therapist. Hannah left her tenured track university professor job teaching dance and theatre in 2018 to teach yoga, theatre and dance full time.

Hannah is an international applied theatre trainer and runs both the NY School of Playback Theatre as well as an afterschool youth drama program called Akimbo Youth Theatre. Her book Zoomy Zoomy: Improv Games & Exercises for Groups (2010) is used by teachers and theatre practitioners around the world. In all that she does, cultivating a sense of compassion (ahimsa), inwardly and outwardly, is her main objective. Hannah is a dedicated mom of a spirited 11 year old boy named Rio.

Hannah has been committed to the healing arts her whole adult life. As a theatre and dance professional she brings both a compassionate and playful vibe to her yoga classes. As much as she is alignment focuses (to prevent injury), she also reminds her students to not take any pose or moment too seriously in our practice. It is just that: a practice. Perfection or "arriving" is not the goal; it is the journey that offers the wisdom and the adventure.
